Stuck slider controls for heater and AC 700 1990

Hello all: The vent control for my 1990 749GL has been stuck in the Maximun AC setting for about two weeks. I took out the glove box to gain access. Apparently, there is a round switch kind of compoenent attached to the control that is binding. I was able to free up the controls with gentle pressure on this said switch.

My question is: What do I need to replace? Is the round thing replacable or do I need the whole unit that it is attached to? Any advice would be appreciated.
