Hello,
I have put an offer in to buy a 1987 240DL pending an inspection. It is in wonderful shape, the interior is PERFECT and the body only has 2 or 3 small rust spots that are easily fixable and the paint is nice. The engine seems good visually and sounds great when revved. Here is the issue. I arrived to test drive the car, and the owner, who has never driven the car as it was left for him to sell by his buddy who babied it, just pressure washed the engine before he drove it over. Silly.....I know, especially when done incorrectly.
This reaulted in apparent compression loss in the engine. The engine bogs down when idling and shakes as well. I think that this is because the electrical parts got wet. Is this probably the case? He seemed quite distraught that this took place and swears that the engine runs beautifully. I am test driving it again when he call me and tells me it is ok again. Hopefully tommorow.
Is there anything that I should lookout for?
Thanks in advance.
