Continuing Speedo Issues 200 1986

"Here's a little story 'bout a man named Shawn, kicked his Volvo in the butt 'cause its speedo was gone..."

OK. Speedo was dead so here's what I did. Yanked the sending unit and cleaned the contact, DONE. Checked the wires from sending unit to speedo with continuity test on voltmeter, DONE. Drove car with voltmeter attached to sending unit lead wires... sending unit seemed to be sending out a signal in graduated increments on the voltmeter. So it must be a bad speedo head! Bought a used instrument cluster; everything works but the speedo. I'm confident that I purchased a good cluster. Have I checked everything? Thanks, Shawn
