Belt tension spring 1800 1973

My driver side seat belt won't retract anymore. I pulled it apart and think the problem is the copper(?) tension coil spring. It still seems to have plenty of spring left in it, but I can't seem to get it working again. Is it worth working on it vs. buying one. Is there someone who has one for sale or know of a replecement for it, doeasn't have to be volvo's?
