It seems the linkage between my shifter and my transmission is loose. It flops around. The holes where the linkage mounts seem to be worn. Can this be adjusted? Or should it be replaced?

I also had a problem with it not going int drive properly. I would start going forward and it would go slowly and then I heard a clunk and the car would go.



Are these to problems linked?
