240 turbo oil cooler 'stud' removal

Hey Folks-

Out stripping what was left off an 85 turbo 240 tonight. Grabed the oil cooler, lines and cooler t-stat housing to eventually put on my 86 DL. How do you remove the "stud" that the oil cooler t-stat housing/oil filter screws onto? I can feel some type of a tool flat on the end of the stud where the filter would normally go, but nothing I had fit. I tried metric/SAE allens and 3/8 square plug. I would like to be able to remove the stud to go with the other parts when it is time to install on the DL, since the non-oil cooler cars don't have the extra length to accomodate the t-stat/line housing.

Thanks!

Jeff
