Rear cam plug removal tips? 200 1990

The round rear cam plug on the back of the head (B230) of my '90 is leaking a bit (not due to excessive crankcase pressure, just age I guess), so I'm going to replace it. Do I need to remove the rear cam bearing cap to get space to push it out? Or can I just lever it from the firewall to cock it sideways and yank it out?

Also, upon installation should I lube the thing with oil, a little rtv, or leave it dry?

Thanks.

-Simon
