Hi Guys,
A low level but noticeable front brake vibration has developed in my well cared for 82 242. It has had new OEM quality front pads in the last 15k --- at which time the rotors were turned and the calipers inspected (trustworthy independent shop). About 7,500k the front brake lines were replaced and the lines bled. However, this is when I first began to notice a slight front-end vibration when the brakes were applied. The vibration disappears when the brakes are fully applied, with the vibration strongest at light to intermediate brake pedal pressure.
I should add that I had to replace the brake booster value about 2k ago, with the vibration at the same level and possibly slightly increased after replacement of the valve. The master cylinder is not using fluid or leaking, and the brake system is flushed about once every 1.5 years.
If you got this far I would also add the braking power is still very good in all situations, so that does not seem to be a problem. It's the vibration thing that has got me wondering.
It occurred to me that I might be looking at warped rotors or a vacuum assist unit that is beginning to go. Any thoughts from those of you who know Volvo brake systems? Thanks.
Dave
