Went to buy fuel yesterday, parked on the wrong side of the pumps. Did a u-turn and got my gas. took my brick through the car wash and found that my power steering was absent. I looked under the hood and found that all my PS fluid was gone! Thers was a nice stripe of fluid about 6" wide, all around my U-turn and in and out of the car wash.
Got under my brick today and cleaned everything up a bit. The only place I can see fluid leaking is down one of the lines at the bottom of the steering column. (I did not run the engine during my cleaning and examination.) This is a metal line that goes from the bottom of the steering column to the center of the steering rack. It drips every 30 seconds or so.
1, Any ideas or suggestions? I find it hard to believe that a hole in the tube could leak as much fluid as fast as it did.
Tomorrow I'll climb under and take another look, this time I'll use a mirror, if that is not successful, I'll add some fluid and start the engine.
2. Can the rack be dropped down without disconnecting everything?
