A/C vacuum procedure 900 1997

There are several types of a/c vacuum pumps on the market. The smallest one is 1.2 cfm. Does it have enough power to vacuum the a/c system on 960 1997?
Do I have to buy anything else? What's the correct way to vacuum a/c system if the car doesn't have a high pressure port?
Tips on vacuuming procedure are greatly appreciated.
