HELP!!! FUEL FILTER!!! 200 1987

I've just gone through Hades and back again to get the fuel filter on my 87 245 replaced. I think it must have been the original, 222K old!

The little plastic hose that goes from the fuel pump to the "in" side of the filter cracked. I went to Auto Zone and got a standard fuel line (5/16") but that is slight too large -- fuel sprays out both ends.

Anyone know the diameter of this little hose, or have any ideas how I could use the 5/16" fuel line?
