91 740 wouldn't start 700

My mother has a 91 740 2.3L 153,000 miles with the Rex/Regina Ignition system. It failed to start eariler today, so I checked this board for ideas. The first thing I did was confirm that there wasn't any spark and the fuel pump was running. I also note that the Tach did not move at all when cranking.

The only thing I did was jiggle the connection to the crank position sensor (white band) at the firewall, and it started. I didn't pull it completely apart, just pressed the wire clip in and jiggled it out somewhat then jammed it back together.

And it started.

I checked the codes for the check engine light, found Regina code 1-2-2 for air temp sender. I did not have the symptoms of this fault, and after erasing it, the light has not come back on.

Anyone have any Ideas? My mother isn't thrilled about my "lets wait and see" approach.
