A New London firefighter checks on Joshua Hayford, 18, of 148 Gardner Ave., New London, who police said lost control of his 1988 Volvo and crashed into the dining area of The Portuguese Fishermen Restaurant on Williams Street in Hodges Square just before 7 a.m. Friday. Police said no one was injured in the mishap. Hayford was charged with failure to drive right. "
