Hi everyone. A couple days ago I posted a message stating that I was having some tranny problems with my '86 740 turbo. It turns out that my problem was a faulty fuel pump(s). A local Volvo mechanic says he recommends replacing both pumps (in tank and in line) to cure the problem, since when the pumps warm up I am only getting about 32 psi and it should be 42-45psi. He says the whole job will cost $1,315.25 because the fuel pumps alone cost him $900. I found the parts on some auto websites for about $250. Am I being ripped off. Do I even need to replace both pumps. I think I might just try and do it myself...since how I bought the car for $1500 just 3 months ago. Please let me know if anyone has done this swap and if it is hard. I am a pretty decent mechanic but no profressional. Thanks, joe.
