A school teacher sold this Volvo wagon to an ignorant woman. Aside from the car trouble I may not get to celebrate from 4th wedding aniversary if I can't get my 24 year old son independant again/cut the final ap strings. We were told by the prev owner "it's cold natured but once it's warmed up your good to go". For $1000 I thought it should last a year maybe. When we had it running it sounds pretty good. The car died/battery dead so we jump started it three times to get to Autozone. After they hooked up their tester they said its probably the alternator. Okay, we did that. Same problem. Took their alternator back they tested it - 12 volts but said that should be okay but put another alternator on theit tester - same voltage output but they traded for that one. Same thing - the battery is not getting a charge, period. So now my husband is disgusted with the car and my time invested into the problem so he said take it to our neighbor. They take the alternator off, check with several AutoZones looking for an 85 Wagon Alternator - but supposidly there is no such
thing - 1986. Well, anyway, they get anoter alternator, the guy puts it on, plus does a few other things to this vehicle - motor mount bolts, transmission bracket, some kind of black box from a junk yard - to help the idling problem. After $500 in cash to the neighbor, my son drives away and the next morning, same problem. This Volvo has 200,000 miles on it but when it's running it sounds good. Sorry guys, the length of the posting is a female thing and I fix washing machines and ranges - not cars.
