I've got a problem starting 164 E. Engine starts normally but then it stops immediately when I stop starting. There are a couple of possibilities which I have heard that could cause this.
1st, ignition power is cut off when I stop starting.
2nd, only idle circuit gives fuel to engine(haven't yet tested injectors but they open by hand).
I have connected fuel pump directly to 12V, because when connected properly it won't work(relays broken?). Also i have heard that this doesn't cause the problem.
This is how the car looks. Due to lifting with "grabber" roof is crushed and rear has twisted upwards. www.sunpoint.net/~power244/164.htm
There was a tip in Finnish Volvo-site(Volvolandia.com), that 164 was going to junk. I saved the car from junk yard but it was already almost unsaveable. Should have used chassis robot(correct word?) to make it good again. Of course there is rust and some holes on the sides and under, but only two doors and trunk lid were welded before! Would have been nothing impossible to repair...
Former owner(I don't know him) had tried to sell it for a some time. When no one bought it he decided to trash it. Also heard that there was some problems with brakes.
First I thought about repairing the car but finally decided to sell it in parts and install the engine to my -81 244. Pic of 244: www.sunpoint.net/~power244/pintamaali.htm
And this is how it looked a few years ago: www.sunpoint.net/~power244/kuvia2.htm
Sorry about writing mistakes and putting here some text that doesn't belong in to this section :)
I tried to use search to find corresponding messages, but didn't manage to find any(or my connection is too slow for it ;)
