A '93 945 I'll probably be buying next week (I currently have a '93 945T, this would be an additional car) has an interesting problem that the current owner's mechanic hasn't been able to figure out.
When the fuel tank is 3/4 or more full, it will always start when you first turn the key. When the tank is 1/2 or less full, it will never start when you first turn the key and crank the engine, but will always start if you stop cranking the engine, and recrank it (it starts on the 2nd crank). When the tank is between 1/2 and 3/4 full, it is sort of hit or miss.
His mechanic replaced both fuel filters and changed the fuel pump, this didn't do anything for this problem and he (the current owner) just lives with this quark. This car has 138,000 miles on it.
Any ideas on what the cause could be?
