Spent a joyous few hours yesterday in 104F heat at the PnP half-price sale pulling stuff. Drank 2 liters of water and was still peeing dark yellow...too old for this nonsense.
ANYHOW....I got a complete factory cruise control ass'y including the speedo head with its speed signalling terminals. I've partially disassembled this and note that the signalling device appears to be a small coil (and attached spade terminals for the cruise wiring), with a pair of projections that protrude into holes in the die-cast housing at the back of the head, and which probably respond to the spinning magnet in there which is driven by the cable.
The question is: will this little coil/signalling device fit into ANY mechanical speedo head? I want to install this CC unit on my son's 81. He does not want to swap out the head, since he's proud of the high mileage showing (good lad!). Thanks, all.
