New Volvo owner and new to this forum. I've had my 1990 240GL for nearly a year now and until this morning it started everyday without hesitation.

Here are the symptoms: When I turned the key on, the dash lights up, the radio, wiper blades, and headlights work properly. When I first turned the key to start the engine I heard a very weak/faint turning noise from the engine that lasted maybe 2 seconds. Then silence. And every try since then... silence. No clicking. Nothing. Another interesting thing that is happening is that the speedo jumps up to 50-60 mph everytime I turn the key in an attempt to start the engine... is this a common Volvo phenomenon or is my car posessed?

I've tried jump starting and nothing happened.

Thought I would consult the Brickboard before calling an exorcist.
