Fuel relay 700 1987

Hello
My 87, 740 GLE B230 N/A was doing fine. (Till I touched it!) I replaced the starter in the evening. Next morning it developed a stumble and what I call a Morse code miss, when accelerating off idle up until about 2000 RPM.
At one point it would repetitively die if it was put into reverse but not if into drive.
I am going to check the fuel system but feel it is most likely in the electrics as I was rubbing and squeezing up against the wiring harness running down the firewall above the starter.
First is the ignition module on the drivers’ side fender, then the suppression relay mounted on the coolant tank. The TPS is clicking at the right time but I will check that also as I disconnected it to get to the starter.
My question:
I read in the FAQ that there should be two relays; one on each fender, and that they should interchange with each other. I have only one mounted on the coolant tank.
I looked at an 85 740 GL and it does not have any. Checked all under the hood.
Wondering why I have only one (I have a radio) and if that relay could be causing the miss?
Appreciate any help. It is my only car!!
Thanks, Louis Smith
