For the past month, my 86 Volvo Turbo has had a "no-start" condition. I've replaced quite a few parts, took it once to a dealer (who would not work on it because I had already done all the things that he said that he wanted to do), so I took it to a Volvo "specialist" who now thinks that it's the distributor. Okay. Since it would crank but not run I didn't suspect the distributor. This mechanic wants to charge me $365.00 for a new distributor, plus $150 or so bucks to put it in. I see FCPGroton has them for $249.00. Guess which one I'm going to purchase? Problem is, though, that the mechanic/specialist probably won't want to put in a distributor I don't buy from him and will probably claim that he won't be able to warranty it, blah-blah-blah.
I am so far unable to find DISTRIBUTOR in the FAQs. Anybody know where the link is, so that I can see what the r/r of a distributor entails? Haven't done one before, but I am sure willing to learn.
