Love my ’98 V90. Want to tow 15 ft fiberglas travel trailer that weights 1,550 pounds, with a 160 pound tongue weight. V90 has “factory” hitch with receiver that measures 1 ¼” across. Don’t know what “class” this hitch falls into, or how much weight it can take/tow. It looks light compared to the Class III I had on the Explorer, but that may have been overkill for this trailer. Volvo dealer and repairer each have no opinion on suitability of factory hitch, and knew nothing about helper springs for rear end. I want to tow this right. Question: Is this hitch OK? Or should I get something bigger? If bigger, then what brand/size would be best for this car/application? Question: Would like to install Volvo helper springs to keep the back end up when trailer is hooked up. What is recommended part number? Thanks for any help.
