Overheating my first brick! 200 1986

This is a great resource!!
I just bought my first brick a couple of weeks ago and wouldn't you know I have a problem. First day, I drove it home from downtown Atlanta, about 80 miles with no problems. The 2nd day I had it, while driving in town, it started to overheat. I drove it back home thinking that I would take it to the garage that works on my cars. The next day started driving to the garage and noticed a ringing/rattling noise. Pulled over and popped the hood and noticed that the alternator was vibrating noticably and the alt pulley was not lining up with the water pump pulley. It also appeared that the upper support bracket tensioning screw was very close to the water pump pulley. As it was overheating, I limped on over to the garage and left it. They found the bushings shot in the bracket allowing the tensioning screw to rub against the water pump pulley. It had actually ground its way into the screw almost halfway thru. They figured that this was probably causing enough drag on the pulley so as not to allow the pump to work properly. After locating parts and putting it all back together, I was excited about getting the brick back on the road. Not so fast! I wasn't a half a mile down the road when it started overheating again. Took it back to the garage for more diagnosis. Top rad hose is hot and the bottom hose is hotter. Didn't trust taking it up to speed to see if that made a difference. Didn't think to try turning on the heater to see if that made a difference either. Any thoughts on where to begin to look?
