Another way to test for collapsing turbo hoses (Yep you guys were right!) 700

Some time back I posted a question regarding my engine cutting out, when the turbo was over 50% boost. At that time someone suggested that it might be the over boost limiter. However recently, several members said they thought it might be the inlet hoses collapsing.

I felt I needed to prove or disprove the theory one way or another. Ultimately my Buddy suggested I pull a couple of springs out of some preformed hose that we had in the shop. I opted for 1 spring out of a Marine application hose because it was brass and would not let the turbo inhale rust as it might have from some of the other hoses with steel wire, used in salt water. I found a real clean steel one for the intercooler hose. I expanded the coil size and stuffed them in the hose to the AMS and the hose to the intercooler. BE CAREFUL that you keep the end of the wire well away from the grid on the AMS!! If you let the smoke out, it won't work any more. I pulled the wire back out immediately after testing.

Needless to say the problem went away. Actually the turbo to AMS hos was rotten and was ready for replacement regadless. This AM I ordered replacements from FPC Groton and hopefully will fix it this weekend.
