hose connector on exhaust side of block 200

there is a hose connector on the exhaust side of the block on my 84 244, about 1/2 an inch in diameter and located at the rear of the block.
it resembles a crankcase vent but as i said it is on the exhaust side.
nothing is connected to it and i was wondering if something should be, and if not what purpose it serves
