what are these bulges in my strut tower? (pics) 200

something trying to go through my strut towers. the pic at the site below shows the driver's side strut tower with something trying to go through the metal, next to the spacer. it's that bulge.

several months ago, i replaced the strut inserts and the strut mounts (but i didn't install any inside strut reinforcers from ipd). i installed bilstein strut inserts & skf strut mounts.

the passenger strut tower is here.

in this second pic, the bulge is more cylindrical and not as pronounced but still rising. both are next to the spacers and between the 2 nuts on the tower.

question: what is happening & how can i stop it? can anybody recognize this?
