Hi I have a 740 I bought that's been sitting for a few months. I tried to start it yesterday and of course the battery was completely dead. I tried to jump start with a portable jumpstart unit and the engine cranked, but very very slowly (not enough to turn her over). I thought maybe the portable unit was just weak so today I tried to jump it off of my running 240. The 240 felt the increased load, but the 740 still cranked slowly....about the same as with the portable jump start unit.
There is gas in the machine, although it is of course old. Why won't the 740 crank more energetically?? Is the 240 battery too small to jump a dead car?? Any thoughts on anything else I should check? The 740 started and ran just fine prior to parking it.
Thanks for any help...
