Valve Cover Gasket 900

Went to change the valve cover gasket on a newly acquired ’93 945 with Regina ignition. The part I got from FCP Groton is flat – like the one in the picture below. The valve cover on the car, however has “half-circle” indents at the front an back, plus it’s too narrow.

The package says it’s for b230 engines, and the guys at FCP say they sell hundreds of these, and they work fine.

What gives?
