NEEDING ADVICE 900 1997

I was looking at a 960 wagon to buy for my wife. Is this a dependable car? Are there any problems with this model? The service light gomes on at startup and then goes off after about 2 minutes is this a self check or a indication that there is a problem or that there is some maintenance that needs to be done. Any help would be appreciated.
