AC Compressor Came Apart 700 1989

My 740GL's compressor came apart. The AC stopped working, so naturally the first thing I check is the belt. The belt was fine, but the front plate on the AC compressor was laying in the engine compartment. This is were I need help - Is it just a matter of replacing the plate with a new screw? I can put the plate back on, and I even found a screw that would fit. It just seems like there is something missing - I can't really understand how by just replacing this part will make the compressor/AC work again. Yes the compressor belt is on the pulley, and turning.

Thanks,
Ish
