700 mitsu turbo swap?

I found a relatively low mileage(1/2 the miles as on mine) Mitsu turbo at the Pn'P the other day(cheap) and took the whole thing(manifold and turbo) and am planning on swapping it in(free spinning and almost no play). At first I thought i would replace this as a unit(manifold and all) but now am thinking of just removing the S.S. retaining ring and just transplanting the the actual turbo section. Is this proper procedure for the Mitsus...i am more familiar with the Garrets.
