Thanks all for the speedo help. The mileage reading was accurate but the speedo was not. I think I'll hook it up to the other amazon with all things known to work and see if it still reads off. If so I can adjust it on the road from the tach readings.
Next questions...what color was the front suspension and cross members when the car left the factory? It appears as though the factory painted it grey as well as the inner tirewell, and other parts never seen since 1968.
Is this correct?
Also, has anyone else seen exhaust mounts riveted into the floor panels that look original? after removing the factory sound deadening mat (attached with Swedish superglue)there was some of the white goop put around all the weld joints covering the rivets...which retained water under the mat and caused some rust. Several other of the weld joints also had some rust under the white goop look closely next time you restore yours.
And finally for entertainment...a previous owner made his own jute for under the floor mats...a U-Haul pad attached with construction glue! If it was someone you know who did this around 1981...please dope-slap them for me it took many hours to grind all the heavy application of glue. Other dumbass finds are two large holes in the metal kickpanel where someone cut out speaker holes and then realized they would be hanging outside under the fender so they welded it up with about 10 pounds of beading.
Swedish archeology is never dull :)
The primer goes on this weekend and then paint next week!
