Lack of power at higher speed/RPM's 200 1986

Hi All,
I just finished swapping out my frozen a/c compressor(PIA) and got everything back together and took her for a spin. I tried to start and the first try(15 seconds of cranking ) produced nothing but then immediately tried again and started instantly. Seemed Ok but missing A little power. Got on the highway
and going uphill at higher RPM engine was at maybe 50% of normal power. Barely held 55 at max pedal going up steep hill. No pinging but making a subtle strange
air sucking(strugggling to suck kinda)noise. Can someone tell me what I screwed up or knocked outta place?? Please...
