ok so back w/ the factory 127k tranny in i swaped between 3 known working soleniods, checked the relay and replaced it w/ a working one out of my 90' 744ti. checked power @ the soleniod and hear it click ... tryed the whole bypass the soleniod by cutting that grove between the holes.... no OD then...
so today i swaped in a 'working' AW71 w/ 180k from a 89 760turbo, ... tranny sat for over a year but i replaced the fluid and installed a new screen aand kickdown and pan gasket .... first time it did the 1-2 shift it was a little hard but after that it was fine ... and WOW NO Overdrive on THIS tranny also ... is that my luck that i picked a dead tranny? i mean what am i missing? i used my same converter as i figured those don't die or cause OD to not engage .. what else is there that would cause this ... all was fine one day and then i over filled it and it stoped working .. i drained fluid out and it workeds for 80 miles and then died and has never worked since ... WHAT am i missing??
a friend can get my AW71 rebuilt w/ stronger parts for $450 w/ a warraty so i might just do that but i'm really wondering if i even want to do this again, being that my car isn't very stock and is soon getting a bigger turbo i figure i should just go nuts and swap in a 200r4 or 700r4, bellhousing adapter is out there ... custom driveshaft is $150, and other wise i can get the tranny and parts for those trannys dirt cheap
so yea what am i missing on my car that keeps it from wanting to go into OD? what else is there i can check .. i've very tempted to just give in and let a shop do it so it will forsure work .. tho i don't feel like dumping $1000 into some guys hands when i can just swap in another tranny in 5 hours of my time w/ help from a friend so yea ...
thanks in advance for any help
