There are pictures HERE, and i guess it looks better than it really is in those pics. The paint is gone?? Or something on parts of the top, but it's galvanized and whatever says the guy who is selling it. I'll have to take a look at it... But in any case, it's a two owner car, supposedly the homologation model, 1 of the 500 made... The current owners have changed the oil at 2500 intervals, and have taken great care of it from what i'm gathering. "This car is a part of the family, her name is "Heidi" she has never let us down. We have never, and I mean never had to have her towed."
Here's the list of things that are going on with it, and some comments i have on what i think can be done, or not, help me out with these please! =D
1. Engine? Good, puffs blue smoke on start up, but not while driving. It is original, and the turbo is original as well.(that's pretty darn old for the stock turbo though isn't it...?).
2. Tranny? Good, shifts smooth, all gears work, INCLUDING overdrive, the
solenoid works, one of the +/- pins need soldered... (Is that as easy to fix as it sounds?)
3. seatbelts? all good, except one in the back seat that is frayed on one
edge. (so what right? I can just get another at the jy, or depending on how it looks just either keep people out of that seat or not even care about it)
4. AC hasn't worked in 10 years, they don't know what's wrong with it... But i don't NEED AC do I???
5. Are you confident the O/D will work with a new solenoid? OD works, the
bayonet connection is broken, I have it connected now, temporarily and it
works fine. (that's something that can be easlily fixed correct?)
6. Is the non-painted areas on top pitted at all? No, the body is
galvanized steel, so what shows through is the silver of the galvanized steel. You could paint just the horizontal surfaces, and the car would look pretty
good. (I don't really need a beauty queen, and it looks pretty good if you don't look to closely, from the sides it looks immaculate, no dings, no fender benders ever...)
7. Are there any other leaks besides steering fluid? Power steering fluid
is all I see, no oil, and it has never had oil leaks. The steering rack leaks power steering fluid. it takes about a half a pint between 2500 mile oil changes.(Hmm, what exactly does this mean? Does it NEED to be replaced?)
8. Do you have the gas cover that's missing in the pictures? Yes, I have
the cover, one of the hinges is cracked, so I took it off, here in Oregon,
we are not allowed to pump our own gas, so the gas jockeys were having a
hard time so I just removed it, to save me, and them and the car all that
stress. (Can i just use some hinges from any other 240 out of the JY?)
9. If you would like, I can recommend a shop here locally, and they can do a pre-purchase inspection (a good idea no?!?! and HE'S offering!)
10. The car is all original so it has normal wear and tear but everything
works with the exception of the A/C and the O/D. In addition the steering linkage is going bad (hmm, what does this mean to me???)
11. The interior is in decent useable shape, the only thing broken is the
cracks on the dash and the speedometer cover (so what right?)
12. The center console between the driver and passenger is cracked,
and the speaker cover over the right front speaker is missing a connecting point clip, so it hangs a little cockeyed. Most of the dash and instrument lights
work, the turbo boost gauge light doesn't come on, but the rest of the
cluster work, the dome light, door chimes, key chime, seat belt chime,
all work as they should. Turn signal, headlight, brake light, emergency
flashers, electric windows all work correctly. Heater, controls and
heater fan work, the fan motor has been replaced twice. (anything i need to worry about here?)
13. I just remembered, cruise control does not work, the car rarely see's a
freeway, so it was never an issue. (i don't need it THAT bad =D)
14. GET THIS My wife had this thing about the turbo, we were not allowed to take the boost into the orange, only the yellow area, and you must let the car idle for at least 1 minute before you shut the motor off, she read that it prevented "cokeing" or baking the oil on the bearings of the turbocharger. I really think the oil changes at 2500 miles and her care in driving is why the thing still runs so good today.
"You pretty much know everything about the car,
short of how many children were concieved in the car NONE!!!!!!!! We don't have any kids, and sex in the car was also "forbotten"."
Some of this stuff is minor and pointless and i don't care about, but i'm still open to hear what you guys think about it.
Thanks in advance! I want this car! Make me want it more! =D
