What oil for rebuilt turbo but old motor? 200 1983

Hey all,
I'm still deciding what oil to put in my newly acquired 1983 244 turbo kjet. The car has 211k miles, and I am in the process of putting the rebuilt turbocharger on it, and adding an intercooler. Can't decide between synthetic or dino!

I'll make a list of pros and cons from what I can think of.

Pros for synthetic - better for turbocharger, may clean some crud from engine however I have no clue on how car was maintained. Better for cold starts in Wisconsin winter.

Cons from synthetic - Clean too much crud from engine (leaking seals, burning oil, etc) Also method for changing over to synthetic i wouldn't know how to do so(oil flush, straigh change then change filter after 1k miles, etc)

Pros for dino - Car had dino it in when I bought it, probably had it its whole life and is used to it after 211k miles

Cons for dino - Coking in turbo oil lines, and impurities in oil wearing turbo shaft

Also, how do you change oil filter ?? I can easily do it now with exh. man. off, but looks impossible with it on.

After all this, I still can't decide. Any opinions would be great!

Thanks to everyone who responds!

Smith
