Okay, my 83 240 Turbo developed a coolant leak. I was dripping from near the back of the engine (near the firewall) along the heater pipe from the water pump. With me so far? I thought that the water pump must be leaking and the coolant came from the heater pipe connection to the water pump, traveled down the pipe and dripped from the low point near the exhaust manifold past the turbo. So, I replace the water pump (three times because I'm too stupid to properly hold up the pump so that the rubber seal is correct) and it still leaks at the same point. So, I check again and the only place it can be leaking from seems to be the bolt holding the metal heater pipe to the block near the rear of the engine. Anyone had this problem before? I have to drop my turbo, exhaust and exhaust manifold in order to check this. Otherwise it is coming from the block itself. I have no problem dropping the turbo, since I've done it several times.
But, it is not coming from any freeze plugs and it is coming directly down the heater pipe from where the bolt is. Unfortunately, I can't tighten the bolt without taking off the exhaust manifold first. What else could it be?
Thanks,
