I am planning on changing the timing belt (and maybe the tensioner and water pump) on my 1985 244 with B230f.
Question: The car was religiously maintained up until I got it at a Volvo Dealership. I got the car at about 105,000 miles and every scheduled maintenance item had been performed as scheduled. Timing belt is due now (about 145000 on the clock). Questions:
Should I plan on changing the tensioner or will it probably be alright?
Should I change the water pump while I am in there? If so, is the Hepu unit that FCP sells good, or should I spend the extra cash for the Volvo one?
Also, I seem to remember a way to use a timing light to check to see if the harmonic balancer is slipping. Am I crazy?
Thanks in advance.
