Gang,
I replaced the clutch and flywheel in my 88 740 a few months ago. I got the flywheel resurfaced at NAPA... it was one of these big stepped flywheels with two surfaces... one to contact the clutch disk and the other to bolt the pressure plate to.
Now, I just get this gut feeling that my clutch is slipping. I expected a whole lot more performance from the new clutch than what I am getting.
What I am worried about is that the machinist may not have taken the top surface of the flywheel down far enough... in this manner, the pressure plate would be too far away from the clutch disk to adequately clamp onto it and hence be prone to slippage even when new.
So, what should be the correct top to bottom distance of the M47 flywheel?
Thanks guys.
Mike
