I have a 1986 740 GLE Turbo Diesel that has 110,000 miles on it and it just started leaking coolant all of the sudden. I just had it in the shop a few months ago and had the starter supposedly rebuilt and new glow plugs put in. I didn't have any problems until a few weeks ago when it wouldn't start. I brought it into the shop to have them fix it and just got it back last week. I've driven it a few times the past week then this morning I discovered about a liter of coolant on the ground. I looked in the resevoir and it was empty. I looked underneath and it looked as though the coolant was dripping from the bottom of the oil filter. I looked from up top and saw some more running down the top.
Does anybody have any idea where it could be leaking from (common place)? I tried to pinpoint it but it was pretty crowded (i think the turbo charger?) and there was a lot of stuff surrounding where it appeared to be coming out of. I read the FAQ but the only thing that really seemed like it could be was from one of the glow plugs maybe?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there a good way that I could check to see where the leak is coming from that isn't too difficult to do?
