Posted back in May regarding dead 'older style' power window switch. Thanks to BC and Aye Roll (you were correct - some '88s got the older type switches). Mine are in the dash console next to a/c and hazard light switch (front) and either side of handbrake (rear). The plastic body is approx 1 1/2"x7/8"x1 1/2" deep and has four pin offset pattern connector with 'Mera' and 'Volvo' brands at the back. Finally located second hand switches to match at dismantler - they came off an '84 264 I think. These switches do pull apart, front from back, with equal measures of brute force and ignorance (no ball bearings flying about) BUT I tried cleaning (lots of gunk) and managed to break a plastic lug on reassembly so the rocker wouldn't spring as it should and switch didn't work anyway; not sure if these are as serviceable as the door mounted type. Tried to take photos for the BB but my happy snapper went all blurry on me and as the clean-job was unsuccessful it was probably going to be of little help to those of you with these switches. Swapped rear window switch to front (I need the window DOWN - rain, hail or shine!) and noticed the brass retainer clips on the good rear switch so now I know that I have a pair of 'em floating around behind my dashboard console. Sorry for long ramble but the archives can do with another in the saga of the dreaded power window switch.
Oh, and those of you in Sydney Australia (245L Van?) will probably know by now that our favourite Volvo dismantlers in Revesby has moved a couple of blocks west but thankfully the phone number hasn't changed.
