m41 j-type and 142 driveshaftin 1964 122s 120-130

Hello,

i pulled an m41 J-type OD from a 142 this weekend. I'm not sure what year, it had a b20 with FI. I also grabbed the entire driveshaft, not knowing if i could make use of it or not. The flange on the OD is bigger than my m40.

What's the best route to take? Will the new drive shaft work if i get it shortened?
I'd like to make use of the 142 driveshaft and it's better center bearing setup. I do have all the parts from the donor and have a good idea how to make the rubber donut work in place of my 2 grommets and posts. I'm not sure if the rear flange matches the flange on my rearend, it looks bigger. What are the options? Replace the rearend flange? I think i have a dana 27.

I'd rather not shorten my original driveshaft because it's not in the best shape, and this is a condition unkown tranny. it looked ok and pretty clean without any leaks but it could be garbage. I don't want my daily driver to be down too long.

much respect,

curtis m. white
