i'm 17 and i recently purchased my first car, and with a few exceptions, i'm very satisfied. i've owned my volvo for a little over 2 months now, and seeing as how it's 20 years old, there are a few problems. after about 2 weeks of driving it around, the electric overdrive began to be very sensitive to motion, switching on and off at the slightest touch. soon it began to engage and disengage with sudden movements of the car, at any speed as long as i was in 4th gear, and not too long after that it started switching on and off with no rhyme or reason. after about 2 more weeks, it stopped working completely. i tried replacing the fuse, but it didn't seem to make a difference. all the while, the clutch seems to be sticking (making a creaking noise whenever pushed down or let up) more and more often, and it is sometimes hard to get in gear. now, about 2 months later, that still occurs, but mostly after i've been driving in very stop-and-go traffic...maybe just a little lubricant or something? after having the car for a month i made a 360 turnaround, turning left, after which the power steering seemed to stop working. every now and then the power steering will kick in when turning right, but never any other time. i can drive without it, but today i reached my limit when after all the power steering fluid dissappeared (i refilled it but then it was gone again, i think it has a leak). the car now makes an agonizing grinding sound when i turn the wheel at all. on a slightly less urgent note, the odometer and brights stopped working (the brights do work occasionally if i jiggle the lever just right, but for the most part it switches between normal lights and total darkness). just entering my senior year in high school with a low paying job, i'm looking to save money where ever i can. somebody please help!!! i'll provide any details needed to narrow down the source of my problems.
