Hello Bricksters
I changed my water pump. My 1990 745ti wagon was running in top condition otherwise. Immediately after replacing pump, to check for leakage, I noticed a change. The engine sounded different, and idled laborously, out on the road there is NO acceleration. Nada. It takes half a block to get up to 35 mph.
Timing belt was NOT removed, no teeth are missing and timing is DEAD on!!
There is no turbo "noise" or evidence of operation. Boost gauge in dash moves into yellow boost but only about 1/4 of the way at nearly full throttle, which is only about 3000 rpm.
I replaced four (4) feet of vacuum lines. I bought 48 inches worth and used it all.
New plugs, wires and spark to every cylinder.
Fuel pressure is 42.5 psi. Main pump and filter a year old.
Had the computer checked for fault codes, NOTHING!!
Pulled off the intake hose of the turbo, little to no oil and turbo spins freely, with no apparent wobble.
I've cleaned sensor connections, checked for blown fuses, let air of the left front tire, what else is there. AND, what if after $100 with the dealer, they shrug their shoulders too.
