91 944 DOHC idling problems 900

My 944 16V motor (210k miles) has problems idling when it's hot or when the a/c is on. Sometimes after driving the car and parking it 5-10 minutes, when I restart the car it won't keep idling and dies. When the A/C is on, the car idles at a lower rpm. Normally, I'd expect the A/C operation to increase the idle speed. Also, when the car is first started in the morning, the idle speed is the same as it would be if it was warmed up. Any ideas on what's going on?
