Aw70 tranny leak

I have transmission leak from Shift selector shaft seal. This is the seal that goes in from both sides.

I read from Bentley that I would need a special tool 5118 to install this seal. is it possible to do the job without this tool? The tool looks like a small arbor. Is it possible to use a small socket to drive the seal in place?
