My wife's compressor seized and the local AC guy thinks it best to replace pretty much everything--Condenser, Evap, etc. Big $$$.
His reasoning is that when the compressor seizes, the whole system is clogged with junk from the compressor. I guess he means metal shavings and debris.
My gut tells me that this isn't really necessary, or he really doesn't want to do the work and full replacement is the PIA fee for him to do it.
The system was converted to 134A last summer and worked OK but seemed to have a slight leak and was due to be recharged. Same guy did the work.
Any advice?
