Should I buy this Volvo???? Please Help with my decision!!! 200 1987

I have an opportunity to purchase a 1987 VOlvo 240 DL with a mere 42000 miles. I NOw own a 1988 325is BMW, after owning a 1981 Volvo 240DL with the SU carbs.

I do not particularly like the last VOlvo I had, and that's why I went over to BMW, but this one has come up at a time when my g'friend really needs a car, as her 93 Corsica has seen better days, and I'm tired of constantly trying to repair stuff that has broken on it.

the car I'm interested in is a 4 door with gold exterior, and tan interior. FOr options it has air, cruise, cassett, auto, power windows, as well as central locks. I'm not too sure, but I think it has heated seats too.

The Current owner is an older doctor who has owned it since new, and has just replaced the tires as well as the battery. It has been sitting for the past 2-3 years in his garage after his daughter drove it constantly for the period b4. It has always been garaged, so I can imagine that the interior, as well as the exterior are in minty condition too.

SO far the only downside is his asking price. He wants 6000USD for it. I think I can hopefully talk him down to 4500-5000CAD, as I'm sure that I can find problems with it, as well as mention that the car will probably need ALL of it's fluids changed ASAP.

I'm an old school Volvo fan, and my dad had a 73 145, 75 245, 78 245, and an 81 245. All wagons. I had the misfortune of owning the Carburetted 81 that washighly problematic, and suffered from severe rust issues.

thanks for all of your input!!!
Stanley
