nonintermittent wipers 200 1983

The car is a 1983 240 GLT. I replaced the windshield wiper motor not too long ago and find that the intermittent mode doesn't work anymore. Timing may be coincidental as the thing was working so poorly that I don't remember when I last used it in itermittent mode; so, no frame of reference. Wipers now work fine in normal and in highest speed. Any hints on where to look first appreciated; relay, lever switch, or other?
