'91 940 engine trouble

As I was driving, my car's ('91 945) engine cut out. I was able to restart it once, with difficulty, it cut out again shortly after. It turns over, but will not start. A neighbor checked it out and and said the coil is not getting primary current to it.

Any sugestions what to check, what might have failed?
